چکیده

When the femoral artery is occluded in the anesthetized clog, the pressure in the distal segment usually declines progressively and approaches a static limit asymptotically. This static limit is independent of the original degree of vasomotor tone except under extreme conditions. It is concluded that the rapid supervention of reactive hyperemia in the dog vitiates the static limit as an index of vasomotor tone, unless an instantaneous method is developed for its estimation.

Influence of Anomalous Blood Viscosity on Resistance to Flow in the Dog's

Observations were made on an isolated hind leg preparation of dogs, perfused with blood and various homogeneous perfusates. A wide range of intravascular pressures were used while a constant arteriovenous pressure gradient was maintained. It was found that parallel increases in arterial and venous pressures result in a reduction in resistance to blood flow. A similar change in resistance is obs...

The influence of erythrocyte concentration upon the pressure-flow relationships in the dog's hind limb.

Since alterations in cell-plasma ratios are of paramount importance in the assessment of periplieral resistance, a study of pressure-flow relations was made in which blood having wide hematocrit values was perfused through a dog's hind limb in which collateral circulation has been excluded. When vessels were moderately dilated by denervation, the relative apparent viscosity was not affected by ...

The Effect of Erythropoietin on Rat’s Red Blood Cell Indices in Simulated Microgravity (Experimental Study)

Purpose: Microgravity causes major changes in various systems of the body in space, such as shift in cerebrospinal fluid, decreased red blood cells count, and electrolyte loss. These complications are very important in space and we should find new approaches to prevent the side effects of microgravity in astronauts. Materials and Methods: This experimental study was conducted on 21 adult ma...

Prostaglandins contribute to cardiovascular reflexes evoked by static muscular contraction.

The purpose of this study was to determine the contribution of prostaglandins to the reflex cardiovascular responses induced by static contraction of the hind limb in cats, i.e., the exercise reflex. To accomplish this, the cardiovascular responses to hind limb contraction induced by electrical stimulation of spinal cord ventral roots L6-7 and S1 were compared before and after inhibition of pro...
